With intent to elevate the game of Hockey in the State, Hockey Himachal hosted a two day umpire-training workshop in Dharamshala held as on 11-12 February, 2017. The workshop is strategically scheduled before the onset of State Championship set to start from February 18, 2017 onwards.
Umpires from all district associations attended the two daylong workshop that was led by Suresh Thakur, International Umpire and Sh. Romesh Pathania, National Coach and Umpire.
Commenting on the development, Anurag Thakur, MP Hamirpur and General Secretary Hockey Himachal said, “We are striving continuously towards improvising the quality of sports in the State and the umpire-training workshop is a step in this direction. We will continue this momentum and ensure that the officials and players get the best of the facilities and platform to express themselves.”
The workshop was primarily divided in two parts – theoretical and practical, thereby providing the best of both off-ground and on-ground training. A medical test was also conducted on the day two of the workshop.
