The State Police has arrested six youths of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana who were trying to impersonate as candidates in the Police recruitment exams being held at Parol in Kangra district today.
In a statement issued here today, an Official Spokesman said that after arresting the youths of UP and Haryana the State Police has also arrested a youth of Nagrotu of Jawali area. He said that the State Government has decided to cancel the exams.
The Spokesman said that the suspected main accused, a youth from Darkati was still at large and an amount of Rs 6 lakh has been recovered from his house. He said that it was being suspected that the accused were fleecing the candidates by assuring them that they would qualify the examination by impersonating another candidate in place of the genuine candidates.
The Spokesman said that in the absconding main accused would be nabbed soon and it would be ensured that the examination were conducted in a transparent manner at the earliest.
