The North Zone- II Regional Conference on “Contemporary Judicial Developments and Strengthening Justice Through Law & Technology” organized by the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, and H.P. Judicial Academy, at Peterhof, Shimla, came to an end today.
The two-day conference was attended by approximately 160 participants including invitee Supreme Court Judges, High Court Judges and Judicial Officers of the High Courts of Delhi, Punjab & Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
The two day event was inaugurated by the sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu, Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh, yesterday, 29.04.2023. On the eve of this conference a dinner for the Judicial dignitaries and participants was organized by Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Hon’ble Governor Himachal Pradesh, on 28.04.2023.
On 29.04.2023, cultural night was organized wherein artists from department of Language, Art and Culture Govt. of Himachal Pradesh and Nousikhye Band made fascinating performances. Dinner in honour of Judicial Dignitaries and participants was hosted by the Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh on the same day i.e. 29.04.2023.
The conference was hosted with an aim to provide a forum for exchange of knowledge, experiences and dissemination of best practices among participant Judges and Judicial Officers, under the respective High Court’s Jurisdiction.
The highlight of the conference was the dialogue between participant judges amongst judicial hierarchies on themes including Contemporary Trends in Constitutional Law, Precedential Value of High Court Judgments, Development in Criminal Law, Overview of eCourts Project and Emerging and Future Technology for Effective Judicial Governance.
The interactive sessions in the conference between judges from different jurisdictions resulted in sharing experiences on key issues, develop new ideas, insights and adjudication methods.
The Resource Persons included Justice Aniruddha Bose, Justice S. Ravindra Bhat (through video conferencing), and Justice Sanjay Karol, Judges, Supreme Court of India, sitting and retired Chief Justice and Judges of High Courts and subject/domain experts.
At the end of this two day event, Justice A.P Sahi, former Chief Justice and Director, National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, thanked Justice Tarlok Singh, Chauhan, Acting Chief Justice, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, President, H.P. Judicial Academy, other Judges of High Court of H.P., and Sh. Rajeev Bali, Director, H.P. Judicial Academy, for their tireless efforts to make this conference a great success.
He also thanked officers and officials of High Court, H.P. Judicial Academy and District Judiciary who burnt the midnight oil to make the event successful. He urged the participants Judges to work with honesty and dedication to keep the flag of Indian Judiciary very High.
